Products, Materials and Techniques Mermaid Samples Quilt
» A one or two day workshop

Mermaid Quilt

Don’t be mystified by new materials on the market.  This is a class designed to give you a chance to play with new products as you create a wonderful mermaid sample quilt. You will learn uses for Setacolour Transparent paints, TyVek wrap, Angelina, beads, foil, and permanent inks.  The result will be a small mermaid quilt to take home and hang for easy reference.

Ready to dabble and dip in? In the class, participants will be given a hand-printed Setacolour background fabric to stamp and foil with sun and wind, a thermofaxed mermaid to embellish with beads, inks and colored pencils, and painted WonderUnder to experiment with transparent fused trees.  We will play with painted TyVek, heating it to create rocks and coral and then assemble the mermaid landscape using fused fabrics for hills and fields.  We will add Angelina to create shimmer in the water, and foliage onto the trees.  We'll end by hand appliquéing our embellished mermaid into her mysterious and inviting landscape. In the remaining time, participants can choose to layer and quilt their piece as they finish it to an 18"x14" sampler.
